The Journey Behind Thai Jai - Morgan Bennett

Hi, I’m Morgan, and together with Andy Newall, we created Thai Jai last February. The idea for Thai Jai came from countless conversations about what the Muay Thai community was missing and how much Andy’s wealth of knowledge could contribute to it. Andy has an incredible depth of experience and insight from his years in Muay Thai—something rare in this sport. Pairing his expertise with my background in photography, filming, fashion and social media, we saw the perfect opportunity to launch Thai Jai and bring something fresh to the community.

A Little About Me

I started Muay Thai about 10 years ago, but to be honest, I didn’t love it at first! Initially, it was just a way to stay fit. I wasn’t naturally sporty and didn’t do much in my teenage years, but I stuck with it. Over time, as I grew older, I found a deep love for the sport.

Throughout school, I always felt out of place in the traditional 9-to-5 path. I was more creative than academic and couldn’t wait to leave school. However, I struggled to find a job that felt right. Fashion was something I’d always been passionate about, and I wanted to turn that passion into a career. I live by the motto: “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” My goal has always been to turn my hobbies into my work.

I bounced between customer service and desk jobs before taking a leap into entrepreneurship. I did a nail course, quit my job, and started a mobile gel nail business. I loved it, but deep down, I knew it wasn’t my forever path. I didn’t feel fulfilled.

My Muay Thai Journey

Throughout this time, I kept training Muay Thai. My first fight was at my own gym’s show, followed by my first full fight on just two weeks’ notice. That’s when I truly fell in love with the sport. Now, I fight professionally, with my first A-class fight last June and an exciting big match coming up this year.

Training in Muay Thai gave me more than fitness—it gave me a second family. I love the gym’s sense of community, the friendships I’ve built, and the lifelong bonds I’ve created.

The Birth of Thai Jai

Creating Thai Jai allowed me to combine my passion for Muay Thai with my love for creativity. It’s been amazing to turn my hobby into a career that doesn’t feel like work. Through Thai Jai, we’re sharing Andy’s invaluable knowledge, designing and selling stylish clothing, and creating projects where I can express my creativity.

Since starting Thai Jai, I’ve found a renewed motivation for the sport and a drive to build a brand that truly represents pure, traditional Muay Thai. Our vision is to create an educational, fun, and fashionable platform that resonates with the community.
